This is an early concept drawing I submitted to the Art and Environment jury to show how the slope would eventually look. The pollarded willows will become quite sculptural in time, resembling warty clubs.

This is a row of pollarded willows, 7 years after planting. They have been through several harvests by now and are starting to assume a sculpted look. The repeated pruning keeps new growth regenerating and ensures the bright color of the twigs.
